Councillor Campaign · 2026 Municipal Election

Change is needed
in Ward 3.

For every corner of Ward 3.

Marcel Montpellier is running for Ward 3 Councillor because the everyday things that affect your block — the roads, the taxes, the parks — deserve a council seat that answers its phone.

Marcel Montpellier
About Marcel

A neighbour first, a candidate second.

Marcel Montpellier was born and raised in Chelmsford, and he's called Ward 3 home his entire life. He grew up immersed in the area's close-knit francophone community, and that same sense of belonging — knowing your neighbours, looking out for one another — is what makes Ward 3 feel like home today. Marcel is a husband, and a proud father and grandfather; his daughter, Dr. Renée-Anne Montpellier, lives and works right here in Greater Sudbury. When he's not working or volunteering, you'll find him fishing, golfing, curling, or out at the rink for hockey and baseball.

“I'm running to make a change in our community — change is needed.”

The Platform

Marcel's priorities for Ward 3.

In his own words — a ward that stretches well past downtown deserves to be treated like it.

01

Fair services for the outlying communities

Residents shouldn't get substantially less access to recreation, roads, transit, and municipal services just because they live 30–50 km from downtown.

02

Roads, transit & connectivity

Better road maintenance, snow removal, transit frequency, and pedestrian safety — with stronger connections between Levack, Dowling, Chelmsford, Onaping, and Sudbury.

03

Keeping families in the community

Affordable housing, childcare, recreation, youth programming, parks, and support for local schools.

04

Helping seniors stay in their communities

Transportation, accessible housing, recreation, home supports, and better local access to health services — especially with more than 20% of Greater Sudbury's population now 65+.

05

Invest in the community

Protect community centres, arenas, pools, and libraries, while supporting local businesses and community-led projects.
